Is there a secret to happiness? How does one tackle negative emotions? Can one alter one’s destiny?
The book Happyness: Life Lessons from a Creative Addict, traces Dr Merchant’s life and experiences with patients of drug abuse to learn from the lessons he’s picked up on the way. From his father asking him to leave the family home to his mother’s secret second marriage, he talks about the necessity of embracing negative incidents and turning them into life-changing ones.
Dr. Yusuf Merchant emphasizes that doing a drug or being clinically depressed is symbolic of a lack in a patient’s life; it is not the problem itself. Therefore it is necessary to use one’s imagination to be creative and make positive connections. Weaving scientific theories with powerful storytelling, Happyness: Life Lessons from a Creative Addict is a handbook for everyone wishing to lead a more fulfilling life.
